Prescriptions 101: Taking Prescription Drugs Responsibly
This course provides an introduction to prescription medications and explains the implications of not taking a prescribed drug correctly. Patients will learn how they can partner with their healthcare providers and pharmacists to ensure that medications are taken as prescribed. We'll also offer tips for talking with healthcare providers and pharmacists.

Lessons
Lesson 1: Prescription Drug Fundamentals
This lesson offers information about prescription drugs -- what prescriptions are, why one might be given, why only certain people can prescribe drugs, and some common formats used for prescriptions. It also discusses categories of drugs and how drugs work within the body.
Lesson 2: Educate Before Taking Medications
Before taking any prescribed medicine, you need to understand the benefits and risks associated with it. In this lesson, you'll learn how to discover basic information about your drugs, understand what a drug interaction is, and learn about common side effects and interactions to be aware of.
Lesson 3: Connect with Your Healthcare Team
It's important to know how to talk to the people writing and filling your prescriptions. In this lesson, you'll learn the key questions to ask your healthcare provider and your pharmacist about your prescription before you take a drug.
Lesson 4: Perform a Medicine Check-up
In this final lesson, we'll discuss how to follow a healthcare provider's instructions, then we'll offer the top 10 tips to know when taking prescription medicines. We'll also cover drug-taking "do's and don'ts" everyone should know.
